Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day (and don’t forget the interpreter!)

Memorial Day is a day to celebrate all of the brave and selfless men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the freedom of their fellow Americans.

Paragon’s CEO and President were fortunate to accompany a group of WWII Veterans on a trip to France and Belgium to commemorate the 60th anniversary of V-E Day in 2005. All of the veterans became emotional when talking about their buddies who paid the ultimate sacrifice, especially when visiting military cemeteries and battle fields. There was certainly a sense of survivor’s guilt that most of them could never shake – we had seen this first hand over the years. During this trip that was equal parts emotional and inspirational, we realized that the man who arranged the tour had neglected to make sure that the itinerary was locked down and paid for prior to arriving in Europe. And he didn’t speak French or Dutch!  Hanne and Marina (well, mostly Hanne) spent a bit of time behind the scenes as the unofficial French interpreters for the group, arranging impromptu meals and snack breaks. We don’t recommend leaving such important events to chance; we always recommend finding a professional interpreter to ensure that you can deliver what you have promised.

We hope this Memorial Day is filled with joyful remembrance, family, friends, love, and smiles, as you celebrate the lives of those who gave theirs so that we might live freely. Happy Memorial Day from all of us at Paragon, and thank you to all who have served and continue to serve.
